October 2011
As I sit here bristling with excitement, I am realizing that I really am a very lucky woman. The weather couldn’t be more
beautiful, the shop is packed with excitement, and there are so very many more things to be excited about.
We look forward to welcoming Chris Bylsma this weekend. I think she is the best finisher in the industry and her
patterns always have a little extra something to make the garment stand out. We do still have one opening, if your
interested please call the shop. There is homework that needs to be done. For those of you attending, if you would like
a separate homework sheet, please email me and I will email it back to you. We have 20 knitters of all abilities taking
this workshop from Danell and Andie, two brand new and I mean brand new knitters to our most experienced knitters like
Jill and Betty. Remember, pizza, wine, soft drinks, finger foods Friday evening, continental breakfast both Saturday and
Sunday, doors open at 8am on Saturday and 9:00am on Sunday.
The month of November has always had a special place in my heart. Thanksgiving has had a lot to do with that, but
then 25 years ago this November 7th, I married an awesome man, and November became even more special. Eighteen
years ago this November, Yarn Heaven was born and now we are moving to the best location we have ever had. Our
first week there will be the last day of October and the beginning of November. We are making plans for a grand opening
celebration to coincide with our store anniversary. More details to follow. If you are unsure of how to get to our NEW
location at 3300 S. Watson Rd, please click this link http://yarnheaven.com/ , then click on We Are Moving, put in your
address and you will be presented with a map as well as written directions. We will be closing at 4pm on Saturday,
October 29th, and reopen our usual hours on October 31st in our new location.
Keeping the theme of new in mind, we have lots of New inventory to display at the New location. We will no longer be
carrying the Clover needles. As of today all clover needles except for the double points are on sale at 20% off. We have
found another line of absolutely gorgeous, birch needles that have arrived but will not be available until the move. We
have found some gorgeous shawl pins, that are priced so reasonable, you will want to buy more than just one, there are
10 styles/colors to choose from! I don’t want to let all of the surprises out! Although, I will let you know we got our Sea
Silk http://www.yarnheaven.com/shop/viewitem.php?productid=677 and Sea Sock order, the colors are just amazing
and if you have not used the yarn yet you are in for a real treat. We now have 55 colors of this gorgeous hand dyed,
Silk and Kelp mixture. The Sea Sock is here in 19 colors (we had 23) and will be making it to the website soon. . Make
one pair of socks out of it and you are spoiled for life! Speaking of socks, Zauberball and Zauberball Crazy are here in
new colors!! My favorite should be arriving today, it was on back order. I know someone else has their eyes on this
color too...
Artyarns Rhapsody Light http://www.yarnheaven.com/shop/viewitem.php?productid=668
and Beaded Silk Light http://www.yarnheaven.com/shop/viewitem.php?productid=667
have arrived in 14 more colors, we are reordering as fast as we can. Again, gorgeous yarns, I just finished my tank top
out of the Beaded Silk Light and can’t wait to do another one, pattern is free with the purchase of yarn and to let you
know how easy this top down tank top pattern is, Andi had knit one swatch before she started her tank top, we will
have pictures of these up on the site soon.
Special thank ewes go out to all of the wonderful people who are donating to the Stitching for America project. We
just packed up two boxes of quilts, afghans, hats, scarves, mittens, underwear, and sweaters and handed them over to
the family that is delivering them to the folks in Minot, ND. As winter sets in, our thoughts are with all of the cold
weather states. Sadly my youngest sister is one of them in Pennsylvania people who lost everything in the floods there.
Her husband is fighting stage 4 lung cancer and they are in the midst of trying to find a new home. Her needs have
been meant by our large family, but there are many others who don’t have family to lean on and we appreciate all the
help, getting items to these people. I especially want to thank Joyce Jones of Mansfield, Tx. What an amazing woman,
at 92 years young and blind she managed to donate several very beautiful quilts that she had done herself. It is
awesome women like her that make me proud to be a woman. Thank you Joyce for all your hard work and inspiration for
the rest of us.
The part about leaving this location that saddens me is all the wonderful store owners I will be leaving behind. Sherry
from Country Florist has ask me to do one last sale with her, than Danny and Miguel from Danny’s Pizza have ask me if I
didn’t want to give away a few pizzas before I go, so we are working on putting something together for Friday and
Saturday, Oct. 21 and 22. I do know that Sherry is going to close out all of her Barstow jewelry, (I’ve set mine aside)
and she has lots of beautiful home décor items that will be on sale as well. We will send out a little update next week.
On a sad note, I must tell you all that we lost our yorkie Bubbles about 3 weeks ago. She was the yorkie who had her
babies here at the shop. She was 18 years old and loved very much. Many of you knew Bubbles and I appreciate all of
your kind words and caring.
As always, we want to thank you for your continued support for Yarn Heaven, we know you have choices and we
appreciate when you chose us!
