Operation Helmet Liner
A year ago a young man can into the shop and thru the course of our conversation it came out that he was a marine and had served in Iraq. I
showed him the pattern for the helmet liner. He immediately wanted to purchase one and I informed him that they were not for sale, we could only
donate them to the
soldiers. A smile beamed on his face. I ask how many were in his unit. Our initial 45 he neededed turned into 145 as word got out. Then we reached our goal of 5500. Now have reset the goal to 10,000.
There is a great need for the full-face helmet liner. It not only protects from the extreme cold, but keeps
the sand out of their face.
Please remember that whatever you knit has to be in acceptable military colors and only 100% wool
or 100% superwash wool can be used. This is for the safety of our soldiers, as wool is breathable
and doesn't melt.
We thank you all for your support and hope that you will continue to provide the soldiers with
loving items from home.
